that more and more families are calling home.  Holy Cross is the place where children and families connect with each other, connect with God, and together connect with the community to grow in knowledge and to share God's love and forgiveness
with everyone.
 
 
Located in the northeast area of Indianapolis, near the Geist Reservoir, Holy Cross Lutheran School is a ministry of Holy Cross Lutheran Church.  The school first opened it's doors in 1991, and is expanding its preschool and kindergarten programs to include elementary through middle school grades.  *During the school year 2010-2011, we are enrolling students through the fifth grade, and will add a grade each year until all 8 grades are available.
 
Holy Cross Lutheran School is open to all families in our community who desire an excellent Christ-centered education for their children. Currently, Holy Cross serves over 290 students and their families.  Students come from Marion and surrounding counties, primarily from areas located in north, central and eastern Indianapolis (Indianapolis, Lawrence, Fishers, McCordsville, Carmel and Noblesville.)

What is the Math Pentathlon Club?  

 
The Mathematics Pentathlon program at Holy Cross is a program of interactive problem-solving games for students in grades K-4. In addition to teaching the Math Pentathlon games during the school day, we offer a Math Pentathlon club that meets weekly to practice the games, have FUN, and prepare for the city-wide tournament in the spring!  The Math Pentathlon program strengthens basic math concepts and skills and stimulates creative thinking while developing problem-solving skills. A focus on conceptual understanding and the integration of spatial, computational and logical reasoning are key attributes of Mathematics Pentathlon. By using specially designed games and activities that differentiate instruction, ALL students of varying abilities and learning styles are motivated to enjoy math and spend more time learning this subject matter.  Math Pentathlon is fun....just ask us!
 

Operation Christmas Child

A Huge Success!

 

Thank you to everyone that particpated in Operation Christmas Child!  Holy Cross sent 215 wrapped  shoe boxes filled with Christmas gifts and an additional $385 to Samaritan's Purse.  We are helping to send the message of Jesus to children in other countries and share our Christmas joy!

From The Soldiers!

 

During Holiday Family Night, students at Holy Cross made thank you cards for some of the men and women serving in our military.  We have been receiving phone calls and letters from some of these soldiers and their families, thanking the students for the cards.  What a great way to share God's love!  Here is one of the letters we received:

 

To the students and faculty of Holy Cross,

Thank you for the cards you have sent me. They must have taken a lot of time and effort to make. My name is Scott Pretorius and I am the 1st Squad Leader for the 2-19th ADT Security Force Platoon. We will be leaving the United States soon and will not be home until this time next year. The place we are going is a country called Afghanistan. In Afghanistan the people there are having a difficult time farming and raising livestock. Our mission is to bring agriculture specialists to the Afghan farmers and help them find new ways of producing crops and raising healthy goats and cattle. The area we will be working out of is in the Province of Khowst. Khowst is located in the Hindu Kush Mountain Range on the eastern Afghan border. Maybe you can look on a map and find it. It's really small though. The soldiers in my platoon are very thankful for the wonderful cards you made. Keep up the good work and strive for excellence. Prayers are always welcome.

Physical Education is FUN

and

Running Club Is Too!

Physical Education can be lots of fun....this fall, in addition to traditional PE activities, we have learned to bowl and participated in C'Motion!  The newly formed running club has also begun to meet once a week after school!  We've been having fun and staying active!
