OUR PHILOSOPHY
We believe that a good beginning for every child is of great importance, and that our ministry is to serve both our students and their families. Parents have the primary responsibility and the privilege to provide Christian instruction and training for their children. However, as an extension of the church, school can strengthen and support parents in this responsibility by assisting and nurturing the child in his spiritual, intellectual, social, physical, and emotional needs. Therefore, our school programs focus on partnering with parents for the total development of the individual child and on extending this ministry into the home.
In our efforts to meet this responsibility of total development for the child, we cannot separate the spiritual growth of the child from the total growth process. Therefore, the curriculum, activities, interpersonal relationships, and all aspects of the daily routine are Christ-centered. As a result, the children will become well-rounded, Christian disciples who acknowledge the daily presence of Christ in their life and seek to share this knowledge with others.
Holy Cross Lutheran School places an emphasis on academic excellence and provides a challenging, yet flexible, curriculum to meet and exceed the standards of the State of Indiana. The curriculum takes into account the developmental level of children and recognizes the value of play and socialization in the learning process. Our teachers are dedicated to providing academic excellence in an atmosphere of personal warmth and Christian love, recognizing the individuality of each child and nurturing a positive self-concept. The teachers believe that partnering with parents is critical to life long faith development and the education of each child.
Everything that we do as a school seeks to glorify God.
"But Jesus said, Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them,
for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”
Matthew 19:14
